What it would mean to me.

People tell us what having an improved public transport system in Western Victoria would mean to them

I have a son with a disability who uses a walker. He cannot get on the bus from Horsham without two support people behind him to ensure he doesn’t fall. He cannot get off the bus at the other end without risking a fall.
I also have a grandson living with me who recently bought his bike back as far as Ararat on the train but couldn’t bring it to Horsham. Having access to a train that doesn’t come through at 4.00am once a week would allow travel to Melbourne to become a pleasure rather than a nightmare I prefer not to face.

Lynne from Horsham

As a frequent traveller to Melbourne, if I could catch a train instead of driving that would be much better for safety, comfort and would mean I could utilise time saved by reading, emailing and just relaxing.
With the amount of B-doubles and other heavy transport using the Western Hwy, I don’t feel comfortable sharing the road with these oncoming vehicles on the non-freeway parts of the trip. Better train services would mean I don't have to worry about the roads and eliminates the added fear of hitting Kangaroos!

Greg Partikas

it would be a fantastic idea to see rail services restored, especially passenger rail from Ararat to both Hamilton & Stawell/Horsham to those living in those areas without the convenience of having public transport at their doorstep, so they can get to the city of Melbourne to spend & enjoy time down here with family/friends as well as attending crucial medical appointments. The set times for the timetables are ridiculous also, who would like to start travelling at 7 am from their home town and then get back and home really later on in the evening or night?

I certainly wouldn't.

Kerryn Burgoyne

We are underserviced, ignored and have to depend on a dangerous and busy Western Highway which is monopolised by freight trucks and heavy traffic. Why can’t we have the most basic and practical service, a train route which would connect us to the rest of Victoria?
As a frequent traveller on this route, a 2 ½ hour drive each way to and from Ballarat daily is expensive, dangerous and unsustainable. Even the most basic third world countries are better connected.
